The Project

When Ephèmera Firenze met S+S Studio – founded by architects Diletta Storace and Nicola Spagni – it was not simply a matter of creating a scent identity. It was, above all, a meeting of visions. S+S is an architecture studio that conceives space as a cultural, emotional, and temporal experience. It is a practice that brings together art, listening, measure, and an ethics of design rooted in care. In Palazzo Gondi, in the heart of Florence, their work takes shape within interiors rich in memory, light, and proportion, where architecture once again becomes a human gesture, relationship, precision, and silence. As the founders explain, space for them is a threshold: the place where matter meets lived experience, and design becomes experience. The same is true of smell. For this reason, the fragrance was not conceived as a decorative detail, but as “an invisible and sensitive soul that introduces identity before words or images”.

The Fragrance

The fragrance developed by Ephèmera for S+S Studio is an identity portrait: a discreet and luminous presence that lives in the air of the studio even before it is seen, accompanying those who enter the space.

It is an invisible architecture, composed of:

  • a delicate, powdery opening that welcomes with gentleness;
  • a vertical and meditative heart, dominated by cypress and by a luminous, spiritual construction;
  • a warm, layered, textile-like base, built like a tapestry woven from resins and precious woods.

In Diletta and Nicola’s words, it is the scent of a workshop, of pigment and fresh paint, of the living material of the project. Nothing is displayed; everything is measured, present, and perceived without ostentation. It is a fragrance that remains in the memory, like an architectural detail recognisable only to those who know how to observe it.

Florence as Genius Loci

Having its headquarters in Palazzo Gondi is not accidental. It is a choice of cultural positioning, of belonging to the city, to its history, and to its idea of beauty. This essence was created to inhabit those rooms and reflect their density, light, and memory. Diffused throughout the studio spaces, it becomes an identity marker, an emotional threshold, the first narrative of the way S+S thinks, welcomes, and designs.

Results

Today, the fragrance lives as an invisible signature within the studio, accompanying the team, clients, and guests. It has also been embodied in a beautiful scented candle.

It does not impose itself: it listens, welcomes, and lets things be, just like the architecture it represents.
